*Note: The below dates and deadlines pertain to the 2017-2018 school year. Scholarship applications for the 2018-2019 school year will go live on January 1st or in early January. Dates and deadlines will be updated accordingly at that time.
Academic Year: 2017/2018 Granter: New Jersey Restaurant Educational Foundation Award Amount: $1,000 Scholarship Application Deadline: All applications must be received before April 1, 2018.
Student must be pursuing a career in Hospitality Management, Advocacy, Association Management, or Entrepreneurial Studies and enrolled in an accredited institution of higher learning.
Student must provide high school or college transcripts.
Student GPA must be 3.0 or higher.
Student’s permanent address must be in the state of New Jersey.
Application must be accompanied by proof of admission to a school of higher learning and the required essay.
Student must provide a resume that includes college major.
Essay should be 500-1000 words about one of the listed topics below:

Failure is one step closer to success. Please recall a time when you experienced failure. How did it affect you and what did you learn from the experience?
Describe how you have demonstrated leadership abilities both in and out of school.

Students will be notified by April 16, 2018 if selected for the Deborah Roy Dowdell Scholarship Award by email. They will be sent an official letter congratulating them in April. Awarded students will be invited to attend the NJREF Culinary Student Day Celebration on Tuesday, May 15, 2018.
Students may apply for more than one NJREF scholarship; however, each student can only be awarded one scholarship per academic year.
